Argentina, meaning "land of silver," is a rich and vast land—second largest (after Brazil) in South America and eighth largest in the world. Its heartland is a broad grassy plain known as the Pampas. Here Argentina's gaucho, like the U.S. cowboy, has galloped into the country's folklore. The Spanish first arrived around 1516, and Argentina gained independence in 1816. The small native population died from European diseases, and today's population is over 95 percent European. For Spanish, Italian, German, and other immigrants in the late 19th century, Argentina held great promise. Today the literacy and urbanization rates are high, the birth-rate and the infant mortality rate are low, and most Argentines consider themselves middle class.

BUENOS AIRES (LA BOCA)

PATAGONIA - CALAFATE

El Calafate is a little village in Patagonia, Argentina. It is situated in the southern border of Lake Argentino.  Its name comes from a little bush with yellow flowers very common in Patagonia. El Calafate is an important tourist destination as the hub to visit different parts of the Los Glaciares National Park, including the Perito Moreno Glacier (one of the most visited in the world) and the Cerro Chaltén (Fitz Roy) and Cerro Torre.

TIERRA DE FUEGO - USHUAIA

Ushuaia is the southernmost city in the world, on the shores of the Beagle Channel and surrounded by the Martial Mounts. It is the capital of the Tierra del Fuego, Antarctica and Southern Atlantic Islands Province, and its superlative location allows you to enjoy sea, mountains and forests at the same time. Besides, it is a great place for shopping: the whole island is a tax free zone, thus you can find lots of imported goods along with regional products.

IGUAZU FALLS

Iguazú Falls are the result of a volcanic eruption which left yet another large crack in the earth. They are taller than Niagara Falls and twice as wide with 275 cascades spread in a horsehoe shape over nearly two miles of the Iguazu River, These details do nothing to describe the grandeur of the falls, the tremendous amount of water thundering down 269 feet, the tropical location and the sheer beauty that led Eleanor Roosevelt to say Poor Niagara.
